How we calculate

The maths, in plain English.

State rebate

Battery kWh × your network's per-kWh rate, capped at the scheme maximum. Synergy customers cap at $5,000; Horizon customers cap at $7,500 because regional batteries reduce more diesel generation.

Federal rebate

The Cheaper Home Batteries Program discounts at point of sale based on system size. The rate declines yearly, so installing earlier means a bigger rebate.

Annual savings

We model how much of your annual bill a battery offsets, based on its size, your solar size and a typical WA consumption pattern. Without solar, savings drop ~45%.

Verify before you buy. Rebate rates change. The numbers in our calculator reflect the published scheme rates at time of writing. Always confirm current rates with your installer or at energy.gov.au.
